I think it's about time we have an introduction.
So, I go by Sam (which is short for Sammius, pour t'amuser) on the Intrawebz, and this has been true for almost five years now -- the same number of years in which I started role-playing. I joined ProBoards in late '06 because my friends wanted me to join a Harry Potter site, but I was only on it for a couple months before I took a break; in a way, I've only really been with ProBoards since about February of 2007. Since then, I've joined probably around a hundred ProBoards, most of which I'm no longer a part. I'm a staff member on a Harry Potter RP, a writing site (which has recently branched out into a general role-play forum, in addition to a writing site), and a Final Fantasy X site (which is currently inactive), but I've made my own forums plenty of times -- one of which is in the process of reconstruction, in hopes of getting members to come back.
I love the English language in general, which is only a plus when it comes to RPing. I like both writing and editing other people's works, but lately, I've been through writer's block with my own writing. The last I've written was a drabble for Ouran High School Host Club (a very ... interesting manga), but that was a few months ago. Of course I participate in the games and whatnot on the writing site for which I staff, but other than that ... no. Feel free to ask my help if you need ideas or, possibly, grammatical corrections on your own work!
I also love the French language, France in general, and most of Europe. I want to visit the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, France, and Germany mostly, but in general, I just want to visit Europe. I've always loved history (most of which involves this fabulous slice of continent, as most of us know), and while I may disagree with what happens, I usually tend to busy myself with learning about the more corrupted tidbits in history. American used to bore me, but my current history teacher is the most amazing teacher I've ever had -- literally. He's young, which I think contributes to the whole "understanding us" thing, which is really important when you actually give a damn about the students' education. My favourite topics in history are the Salem Trials and World War II (though mostly the Holocaust, rather than the entire war).
I want to be a lawyer someday, and I want my undergraduate degree to be in psychology, English, or French. I hadn't really considered French as an undergraduate degree until very, very recently because I came to the realization that French is going to take up a major part of my academic life. By the time I graduate high school (I'm a sophomore, at the moment), I will have had six years of French. (We have four different classes each semester, for a total of eight, so people usually take two years of one language in one school year, which is recommended). After high school, I plan on continuing my French studies in college. I know -- French isn't very "logical" compared to Spanish, but in high school, French offers far more opportunities than Spanish does. (French club, French Honor Society, Honors French, and six years of French are much better than four years of Spanish and absolutely no extra-curricular involvement.)
I'm a straight-A student. I don't make perfect 100s, sadly, but I'm satisfied with my A's. I recently got turned down for National Honor Society because I couldn't get community service hours, but I still have other opportunities that occur outside of school. Inside school, I'm in French club and French Honor Society, and while that's all the extra-curricular involvement I have right now, I know that most (if not all) of teachers would be willing to give me a good word. What I'm worried about is being in the Top 10 Seniors list and getting a scholarship for college because there's no way in Hades my family can pay for it, but when it comes to actually applying for college, I'll be ready. I don't need National Honor Society: I have good classes, I have a good discipline record, and I get along well in class. GPA is important, yes, but I think college is going to also look for the types of classes I take and exactly what kind of person I am, as far as academics.
Anyway, this is one of those rare opportunities when I actually say a lot in my introduction, so ... yeah. -wipes sweat from forehead-
