And now we're at the heart of why you're here - role playing. Different sites have different requirements and expectations of their players; some are very strict, whilst others are extremely lax. We at EE are striving for a balance between the two, and hopefully, this is it.
Q: I can have an Original Character, correct? A: Of course you can; in fact, that's the only thing you can have on here! There are only a few rules concerning this, however, so please, follow them! These should be common sense, but we'll spell it out anyway - [minus the obvious 'no-over-powered-characters' thing]. Here is what you CAN'T have on EE:
On Pets - Keep it realistic, folks. Only conventional pets, please. If it's dangerous, and not a pet a wizard would usallly have, then don't have it as a pet. Simple as that.
The next restriction is powers. Powers such as: being a metamorphagus, werewolf, animagus, Legimancy (mind reading) and Occlumancy (blocking mind reading).
We will only be accepting ONE metamorphagus. We will not be accepting anymore until that person has quit the board or if a certain amount of time has past. If we will accept another look for this area to update telling you so.
Werwolves - While there are known cases of Lycanthropy, they are rare, even in the Wizarding World. As such, only one character can be afflicted, and must provide a detailed and plausible explanation for being bitten BEFORE posting their profile.

Any 'Being' as classified by the Ministry of Magic, including non-human characters, such as house-elves, goblins, centaurs, and merfolk » . Anything classified by the Ministry as a 'Beast' or 'Spirit'. Q: So, character rips are OK, then! A: Hold on, we didn't say that. Please don't rip off a profile from, say, Wikipedia, or another forum. Plagiarism is illegal, not to mention extremely rude and uncreative. Even though this world is a fantasy world, please try to make them as realistic as possible. Also, do not, absolutely DO NOT rip anything from another series, another plotline, etc.
Q: How do I create a character, then? A: Erm. From your imagination? Provided, of course, that they fit into the Harry Potter universe, and that they follow forum rules.
Q: What about canon characters? A: There are no canon characters, as this site is completely original.
Q: A bit off-topic, but what about homosexuality, or bisexuality in my characters? A: Homosexuality and bisexuality are A-OK. However, remember to keep everything PG-13 as per ProBoards ToS.
Q: What if I'm uncomfortable with homosexual or bisexual writings? A: Then don't read them. If you stumble across a post containing it, just skip over the rest of the post; homosexuality and bisexuality are a reality. They should not be censored just because some people might be uncomfortable with the concept. We have removed the header listing homosexual characters and their players because we felt that it was no longer needed, due to the amount of homosexual / bisexual characters listed, as well as the fact that you are being warned right now. =P If you don't like it, don't read it, and you'll know which characters to avoid in the future should you accidentally read a post with a homosexual or bisexual character.
Q: Could my character be taken from me? A: No.
Q: Why don't I see a section for face claims? A: We don't like play-bys. You're free to base your character's looks on anyone, but please don't say that their play-by is so-and-so. Also, your icon and signature can be whatever you want it to be, and does not have to reflect your character.
Q: What about using a picture of my character for the appearance section, even if I still include the required amount? A: Nope, sorry. Because EE is an Intermediate-Advanced site, we strive for descriptions. We feel that having a picture in the profile would take away from the written words and encourage people to not put as much effort into it, because they have a picture. You're free to open a Fanart thread and post your picture, though.
