Name: Sirena Corine Roberts
D.O.B. // Age: March 18, 1995
Schooling: Insula School of Magic – 4th year
Wand: 5’4”, Cedar, Ashwinder Ash – John Drell’s Wands
Pet: N/A
Appearance: Sirena stands just below average height at five-foot-four. She has brown that flows in loose curls down to the middle of her back. One can usually see her hair put up into a ponytail, and she can only be seen with it down on certain occasions. If she can be persuaded to keep her hair down, it can give her an entirely different – and much prettier – look. Her eyes are as brown as her hair, and her skin is the shade of pale that burns too easily. Her body is slim and unremarkable. She’s pretty, but not overly so. Her looks aren’t what makes her stand out in the crowd. When not in school uniform, she tries to dress nice, always wanting to look her best. She doesn’t necessarily keep up with the latest fashion, but she does want to look good. She prefers lighter colors, but knows when to wear darker colors and when not to.
History: Sirena was born on a windy March day in Southern California to Amanda and Tristan Roberts, two singers – both Muggles. They named gave their daughter her first name because their highest goal was for her to be a singer when she grew up, just like her parents. Her middle name was her late maternal great-grandmother’s name. Amanda sung in a local rock group, and her husband was a classically trained high school choir teacher. They played music all the time while Sirena was little, as music was so important to them. They live mainly off Tristan’s teacher’s salary, but Amanda’s group usually has a gig at least once a month, which helped with the bills.
When Sirena was five years old, however, her parents started to notice strange things going on with their daughter. They tried to ignore it, and didn’t tell anyone. There had to be a logical explanation, right? When she was eight, they started training her to sing. Over the next couple of years, they continued to train her, and while she developed a nice voice, it was clear that their daughter would probably not become a singer. After two years of voice lessons, a great improvement should have been visible – it was not. They were disappointed yes, but what could be done? It wasn’t as if that made them love their daughter any less.
They didn’t have much time to debate over that, though, as a man with a letter arrived the summer after their daughter’s tenth birthday. Sirena was a witch, the man explained. He took her – along with her parents – to Catalina Island, much to their confusion. They’d been here before, and had not noticed anything. Much to their shock, he showed them Shoal Square, explaining that the school Sirena would be going into the fall was on a nearby island, hidden from the eyes of the non-magical folk. The man helped the girl buy her school supplies as well as her robes that she would wear over her uniform.
Sirena was excited and nervous at the same time. Her parents didn’t want her to go away to a boarding school, but they felt that this explained all the weird things that had happened while she was growing up. Sirena was sad that she couldn’t tell her friends, and she had no idea what they would think. When she actually arrived at Insula, she could not have been more thrilled. This was great! Her first year dorm mate ended up choosing Phi Beta Gamma, while she chose Alpha Theta Delta. She was then paired with a Japanese-born girl named Kami Nagato. Sirena tried to include her dorm mate in everything, but the girl never accepted unless she made her. She doesn’t take it personally, as she could tell that Kami simply didn’t know how to go about making friends.
In her second year, she decided to try out for cheerleading. She wasn’t a flyer, after all, so the other teams were out of the question. Sirena made it. She enjoyed it, but it wasn’t really what she wanted. She stuck with it, and quit after that year was up. Her classes her first two years were good, and she did well, but nothing that really stuck with her for a long-term basis. In her third year, second semester, she took Magical Medicine – and fell in love with it. Her third year, she also started taking dance. She was not a singer like her parents, but it was the only thing she could think of to express her love for music without actually singing. She’s going into her forth year, and plans on taking both Arithmancy and Ancient Runes – as well as Magical Medicine again.
Personality: Sirena is a very outgoing person. In her opinion, one can never have enough friends. She enjoys socializing and meeting new people. She tends to come off as bubbly and upbeat. She tends to slack off in classes that she’s not interested in, and put more effort in those in which she is interested. Sirena can be a very hard worker when she wants to be, and when she has a goal mind, she’s very determined. She’s incredibly nice and kind, almost the point of being too nice at times to the point that she has trouble giving criticism because she doesn’t want to come off as mean. She does take criticism fairly well, though. Her attitude tends to attract people more than her looks do, and she seems like a very confident person.
