Name: Rhapsody Estrella Smith
DOB: September 24, 1988 // Age: Going on 21
Schooling: Salem Institute for Magic. 2007
Current Job: Bookstore
Wand: 10 inches, Hippogriff Talon, Rosewood – Jacob Spellman
Appearance: Her honey blonde ringlets reach the middle of her back, once she had it above her shoulders but could not stand it so short. Her child like face is normally framed by her hair giving her an innocent look that make people think that she is at least three years younger than what she is. She has blue-grey eyes that are clear when she is happy, and when she is sad, they lean more towards grey. Being only five feet two inches, does not help much to make her seem her age. She leans more on being on the skinny side now a days.
History: Being born last in a set of triplets is not what I would call a cakewalk. First born was Melody Luna Smith, her older sister. With brown-black hair, that is straight and dark brown eyes. Her older brother Raistlin Sol Smith has sandy blonde hair that is slightly curly and blue eyes. Their parents Sara and John Smith are muggles; Sara’s mother is a witch. But she hates magic of all sorts, maybe deep down she is jealous that she was not born a witch. Sara’s mother made her promise that she would get to give the children their middle names. You see each of their names means something: Luna the Moon, Sol the Sun, and lastly for it is probably the least of the three Estrella, which means Star. They are the middle names that are passed down to each set of triplets.
Cecilia Estrella Solis is the woman that gave birth to Sara and knew that one of her daughters was going to be a witch. You see in her bloodline once every other generation is born a set of triplets and only one will be a witch. Cecilia was the one in her generation to be born with the gift. Her mother was happy with her as well as the rest of her family, but things change. For Rhapsody, her parents as well as her brother and sister, well they hate her for it.
Her childhood was a happy one filled with laughter and smiles. Her mother and father told their children everyday that they loved them. But that would change, Rhapsody had felt that she was different from the others but could not put her finger on it. She saw little of Grandmother Cecilia for her mother did not like for her to visit all the time. But every time that she would come, Rhapsody would go to her side and talk with her. Her sister, Melody, did not like this as well as her brother Raistlin, but they could not make Rhapsody do what she did not want to do. For she was a stubborn child; and would later become a rather stubborn woman.
Rhapsody loved her grandmother and wished that she would stay longer each time, but her mother would never allow for that to happen. Of course as in their agreement between Sara and her mother, no witchcraft was to be used around the children: and when one of the girls starts to show the signs, they would go and live with their grandmother. So there was no outward sign to Rhapsody that her grandmother was even more special then she thought.
A few days past her ninth birthday, some thing strange happened: Rhapsody saw a cat up in the tree. She called to it to come down but it did not. Before she knew it, she was up in the tree with the cat. Later she told Melody about it and her sister told her that she was a freak and told her mother about it. Sara was upset that it had started and called her mother. For she knew what had to be done, she had agreed all those years ago.
Sara went into Rhapsody’s room and started to pack her things. “Mother, are we going somewhere?” Rhapsody asked her, slight fear showed in her voice. Her mother did not even look at her, or respond in any way. She just kept packing her daughter’s things; soon Cecilia showed up and took Rhapsody away. “I am being punished, and my mother hates me. Why else would she send me away?” She asked herself sadly, as they got on a plane, going to her grandmother’s house in Massachusetts.
Things became clear to her as her grandmother talked to her as they sat in her living room. She wove a story about how there are witches and wizards in the world, and that Rhapsody and herself are witches. They should be proud of whom they are, but smart to not openly display what they could do in public around muggles. Rhapsody had to get over her old life, but she would never forget that her beloved older sister Melody had called her a freak. That was her first scare, and one that would burn in her mind always.
Rhapsody attended The Salem Institute for Magic: an eight-year school that covered all of the basic fields of study as well a work-study program for witches or wizards that wanted to get into the Wizarding government. And of course, there was the greatest game ever invented Quodpot; Rhapsody took to the game for she thought that there was nothing more exciting then the prospect that at any moment the Quod would explode. She was happy as she went to school and lived with her grandmother. Cecilia was proud of her granddaughter, and watched as she grew up into a beautiful young woman. Her hair remained honey blonde, with loose curls that framed her face, slender frame, standing only five feet four inches tall.
Rhapsody did not date that much for she did not think that she was pretty, once she went out with a pure blood. Oh, that was a mistake on her part, his parents called her the worst thing that one could call a muggle born: mudblood. It means dirty blood; she never went out with another pure blood again.
Rhapsody was attacked on her way to the store one night, and almost died but a muggle got in the way and saved her. He had broken her attacker’s concentration, giving her the chance to attack him back. The wizard sent a curse at the muggle before Rhapsody could put a protection charm, and disappeared into the night. The muggle died and she watched very helpless as he slipped away. Her attacker left her with a thin red scar around her neck. She covers it up with a lace choker, the same color as her hair. Her grandmother had actually made it from her hair for her.
She knew that she would never forget that muggle that saved her life. His name was Mike, and she vowed that she would protect herself from that day on. No one knew what curse he had used on her, so she still wears the choker to cover it up. The only thing that got on her nerves after a while was having her grandmother always looking out for her. She felt like a wild bird trapped in a cage, beating her wings against the bars night and day. The only way for her to get the freedom that she yearned for would be to move away. It was a hard choice to make; it would be a risk in a way. Moving closer to where she grew up.
The blonde packed up her things, not certain in any way what kind of job she would be able to find. After she moved she found a small apartment to move into; sure her grandmother gave her some rent money for the move to make sure that she would not be in a flea bag hotel, and found a place for her as well. After moving and making the place feel more like home she went looking for a job, she was in luck and found a job at the bookstore. It paid well enough but it was not what she wanted to do with the rest of her life, she got it into her mind to go and apply for a job teaching at Insula School of Magic. She hoped that she would be able to teach Charms, it was what she was best at. Of course she would have to go and apply for the job.
Who knew what the young woman would be doing in the Fall? It would be either teaching children, or selling books to mindless people.
Personality: She is a rather happy go lucky for the most part when everything is going her way. In most ways, she acts like a child by not knowing what kind of danger she is in unless some one points it out. Or she may choose to dismiss the warning if she does not fell threatened. Her temper is something that you would not expect, do not mess with her or her friends. She has a slight tendency to taking things a bit far at times, but she could justify her actions. But she is unpredictable most of the time; one cannot say, what she will do until the moment is upon her.
