Name: Marcus Raphael Truchet (Born Rocsen)
D.O.B. // Age: August 30, 1994 // Almost 15
Schooling: Insula School of Magic, 5th year
Current Job: Student
Wand: 10”, Holly, Hippogriff Talon – John Drell’s Wands
Pet: N/A
Appearance: A bit taller than most people his age, Marcus stands at five-foot-ten, and is still going to be growing. He is just now starting to grow into his limbs. His long arms and legs that once looked out place on his body is now starting to fit in. His body is long, lean, and thin, though he’s oddly coordinated for a guy so tall – Dance and Quodpot have helped with that. He has blonde hair that inherited from his biological mother that he lets fall down past his shoulders. He usually keeps it down, to hide his face. His eyes are a bright, piercing blue, which he inherited from his father. His skin is a creamy pale.
Overall, Marcus is a good-looking guy, but his cold expression usually keeps people from approaching him. His eyes, due to their shade and color, can be quite expressive on occasions if one is patient enough to take to the time to decipher them. When not in uniform at Insula, Marcus wears jeans and a button-up shirt, as his guardian does not like to see his adopted son in a t-shirt, though he does own them. Marcus prefers darker colors, but has to wear lighter colors to please his guardian on occasion.
History: Marcus Raphael was born the first child of Allen and Marchelle Rocsen in a town not far from Los Angeles. They were a young couple, and happy in love. Less than a year later, the little family welcomed a girl, Alana Rachelle. For a few years, the little family was very happy. Allen and Marchelle – both half bloods – were good parents to their small babies, and looked forward to seeing their two children grow up and attend Insula as they did. Things were not to be, though. The two left their children with a sitter one night and tragedy struck. They would have Apparated out of the car before the other car struck it accidentally, but they never saw it coming – too wrapped up in each other to notice. With no living relatives known of, Marcus and Alana were given to an orphanage. Unfortunately, they were not adopted by the same people.
Alana was adopted by a fairly poor, but nice Muggle family; Marcus was not so lucky… An old, disgruntled wizard adopted him, wanting a young Muggle heir whose mind he could shape to hate magic and wizards, as he himself did. He not realize that Marcus was not a Muggle. Magic had killed his own family; he needed someone to give his money to when he died, or he wouldn’t bother adopting. Before Timothy Truchet, the rich man that adopted Marcus, realized that the four-year-old boy he had adopted was a wizard… things were fine. However, Timothy had a nasty temper, and one day, in a rush to get away from him in one of his yelling tirades, six-year-old Marcus managed to lock his guardian out of the manor – by somehow managing to seal shut every window and door.
After that, things were not so great. Timothy treated Marcus as if he was a second-class citizen, but still took care of him. He felt it was his duty, so he still tried to make him the perfect son, by enrolling him in piano lessons at a young age. At ten, Marcus added guitar and voice, and at eight, dancing lessons. Though Marcus preferred to focus on ballroom, he dabbled in jazz and ballet, as well. However, Timothy talked about Marcus and his magic so much that eventually, Marcus started to believe it… That way, when his acceptance letter for Insula came, it was the worst day of his life. Marcus had begged and pleaded for the letter never to come, but come it did…
As glad he was to get way from Timothy, Marcus sometimes wished away his magic, because then things wouldn’t be so rough at home. He wished Timothy would just give him up, but the old man refused… And to top it all off, because he was born fifteen days late, he would have to wait until he was nearly eleven. He’d have to hear about how magic was evil and Insula was the birthplace of evil longer than necessary, and how all wizards were evil at heart, including himself. That had been ingrained into his mind since that day when he was six years old.
As much Marcus almost wished he could agree with his old guardian, he didn’t… Insula seemed to be a fun place, and under normal circumstances, he would love it, but after being told his whole life how magic was evil, he just couldn’t… he found himself torn between loving the power magic granted him, and what he’d been told since the moment he’d been adopted. He knew that Timothy was senile, but if you’re told something often enough, you start to believe it… Marcus chose Phi Beta Gamma dorm, the ambitious nature of the house appealing to him. His niche turned out to be Potions, and surprisingly, Charms. Everything else of which he really fell short.
Marcus only has one friend at Hogwarts, and that is a fellow member of Phi Beta Gamma by the name of Salenia White. They struck up a tentative friendship at the beginning of their second year when they both made the Phi Beta Gamma Quodpot Team as Second Years - Marcus a Forward and Salenia as Keeper. He soon figured out that he was gay, and told only Salenia. Marcus also joined the Dance Club, as did Salenia. Everything went fine, until at the beginning of his fourth year, he met two people – Alana Teale of Pi Lamda Zeta dorm and Alex Walton of Alpha Theta Delta dorm. Alana he’d known, since she was a Keeper for her dorm’s Quodpot team. She joined dance, which was fine. Marcus and Alex started dating, and it would have been great, if Marcus hadn’t secretly known of his boyfriend’s attraction to Alana.
Marcus and Alex dated for seven months, but Alex simply wasn’t ready to admit that he was bisexual. The blond couldn’t deny that he wasn’t upset, but there was nothing to be done about it. A month later, Alex and Alana started dating. It made him furious and hurt. If that was really what his ex wanted… then fine with him. He was pleased with his WAT results, deciding to take Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, and Potions. He is also excited about the new Quidditch team, and plans on being a Chaser. He’s still a bit sore over Alex, and doesn’t know that Alana is really his sister. He’s ready to find someone who will want to date him.
Personality: Marcus is not a bad guy. Due to his upbringing, he tends to feel that life just is never fair to him, so why even try. It gives him coldness to his personality that tends to push most people away before they get the chance to know him. He also has no qualms in making someone else feel bad if necessary, because it helps him feel better about himself. Marcus is a far from stupid, but doesn’t always feel studying in the subjects he’s not strong in is necessary. He is not afraid to break the rules if he deems feels it will help him and get him what he wants. He’s also a lot more frank that most people would like him to be, and it tends to add to the coldness of his personality, but it’s really just an honest streak that he wouldn’t want to get rid of even if he could.
