Name: Zacharias Aaron Monroe
D.O.B. // Age: June 17, 1985 // 24
Schooling: Hogwarts, Graduated 2002
Current Job: Insula Potions Teacher
Wand: 12 ½ inches, Oak, Phoenix Feather
Pet: N/A
Appearance: Zacharias is a very good-looking man. He is tall, standing at around six-foot-three. He has strong, yet lean features. Although he is not necessarily in bad shape, he is not much one for working out. He does exercise somewhat, so that does keep in decent, and he’s pretty well defined. He has dark brown wavy hair that falls into his eyes if he doesn’t style it back. He usually combs it back, and keeps it very well groomed. His skin is lightly tanned with a nice complexion, and he has brown eyes. He’s never in public looking anything less than perfect, and is always seen dressing nicely and looking handsome.
History: Zacharias was born to and is the only child of Jonathan and Erin Monroe, two half bloods. The first few years of his life were happy, and his parents were in love. When he was four, his father and his mother had an argument involving their son. Erin thought that they should send him to a muggle school, like she had been, while Jonathan thought that he should be home schooled by his sister-in-law Rinalda, married to his brother Matthew, along with their son Eric, who was a few years older than Zacharias was. Erin disagreed. The argument did not end well, and both went to bed mad. Thing escalated from there, and within a year, Jonathan left. Due to this fact, neither Erin nor her son has ever gotten along with the Monroe family. Erin’s family never forgave her for being so strong-willed, so they don’t get along with her family either.
Nevertheless, Zacharias had a good life. His mother tried everything to provide for her son. He made good grades in school, though he was never that popular. He preferred to concentrate on his work, and was relentless when he wanted something. When he was ten, he received his letter from Insula, telling him he had been accepted. Both mother and son were thrilled. Erin got only the best for Zacharias, because she only wanted the best for him. He went to the island, as everyone did, and was astounded when he saw Insula. It was incredible, and it was an image that Zacharias never forgot. During his second semester there, he debated between Phi Beta Gamma and Sigma Kappa Delta, ultimately choosing the former because it appealed to his more ambitious side.
Zacharias was a guarded person, so most of the other students tended to ignore him. Some of this might have been due to his older cousin Zacharias was quite glad when his cousin left Hogwarts during his fifth year; after all, his cousin was older than he was, so he wasn’t forced to go through all eight years with him. When he grew out of his awkward phase, girls began to notice him, something odd for him. He took it in stride though, taking every advantage that he possibly could. During his final year at Hogwarts, near the end of it, he was preparing to take his TACT’s, though he was unsure what to do with his future. He would be taking Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, Charms, Transfiguration, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and his most favorite subject, Potions, a subject in which he excelled. He got the grades he expected, but felt lost afterwards.
Debating between a job at a Researching Institute and the Ministry, he chose a job as a Shop Worker at Flourish & Blotts while he decided. He ended up waiting to long, and the only spot that the Researching Institute was taken. Not wanting to stay at the shop, he went to the Ministry, but nothing felt right. He stayed at the shop, until a position opened at Insula – Potions teacher. Though, of course, he could teach anything, Potions had always been his favorite subject. He feels like he gets along fairly well with his students, due to his charming nature, and good looks. He’s going into his second year there, not sure if he likes working with his cousin or not. He was also somewhat surprised when his mother asked him to dance with a new student in the ballroom class… she turned out to be one of his students, Alana Teale. The awkwardness is disappearing, and surprisingly, they seem to dance well together.
Personality: Zacharias, at first meeting, appears to be the typical arrogant, good-looking guy, and he seems slightly annoying as well, but that’s only scratching the surface. Underneath, he’s not easily taken by surprise, though he might act like it, and he never lets down from a challenge without reason enough to. He’s a guarded person, though he doesn’t seem like that. Zacharias can be extremely ambitious when he wants to be. When he wants something, really wants something, he will do anything, absolutely anything, to get it. It doesn’t matter what stands in his way – laws, rules, ethics… If he wants something, he’ll get it. End of story.
