§ - Play it Cool ~ Description is fantastic, but there is such a thing as being overly descriptive. To keep in compliance with ProBoards Terms of Service, please keep all content of your posts PG-13; some R-Rated material may be accepted, but nothing explicit [and that is both sexually, and in terms of any violence]. If you find your posts starting to exceed PG-13/borderline R rating, please take such posts over instant messenger, or email.
§ - Stay In Character ~ Any posts made in the role play sections must be primarily in-character. An OOC [out-of-character] note before and/or after the in-character prose is acceptable, but please label anything out of character as such.
§ - Quality Verses Quantity ~ Neither is to take precedence over the other. While there are arguments that longer posts do not a better role player make, a nod must be given that one to three lines doesn't provide much of a story to work with. As such, all in-character posts must be a minimum 700 characters; this is slightly over the size of one standard paragraph - seven to eight complete sentences. This minimum is per character per post; that is to say, if you are posting as three different characters within a single post, each character must have a minimum of a standard paragraph each.
§ - Chat // 1337 // n00b - Speak ~ Major lulz when out of character; not so much in-character. Please refrain from in-character posts written in chat, 1337, or "n00b" speak. In-character posts must be written with correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling, as best as you are able. If English is not your first language, please make use of the spell check function built into ProBoards' posting system.[/ul]

§ - One Account, Many Characters ~ To avoid inflating our member count, and also to avoid confusion as to who is what person, please do not create multiple accounts. Only one account is needed; simply use your display name to reflect your 'main' character, and, if you desire, use your signature area to list the rest of your characters. Any person found with multiple accounts will be notified, and the duplicate(s) deleted. If you share a computer with another member on this forum, please let the staff know ahead of time.
§ - Are You There, God? ~ The character you choose may be super smart, have super reflexes, or super sexy. However, please keep in mind that forum role playing is interactive storytelling. You cannot kill, or injure, or make physical contact with another player without his or her prior consent [this includes both violence/dueling, romance, etc.]. By the same token, please do not make your character invincible or omnipotent [all knowing - eg: you cannot act as if your character knows exactly what the other person is going to do.]. Please see our FAQ on characters and roleplaying for more information on character limitations.
§ - Characters & Relationships ~ Before attempting to start a romance or journey with someone's character, please send them a PM asking if it's OK. Some people may have other plans for their characters.[/ul]

§ - Profile Acceptance & Posting ~ Profiles will be accepted in due time; please do not bump your profile posts, or send the staff PMs concerning when they will be accepted or not. Additionally, if your profile is unfinished, do not post it. If your profile is a work in progress, either [1] save a draft to your computer, or [2] send yourself a PM {{in the PM 'to' field, put your username}} containing your profile draft. This will help the staff go through profiles faster, as well as keep the profile area neat and tidy. Any unfinished profiles will be PM'd back to the creator and deleted from the profile area. Please PM all character questions to a member of the staff.
§ - Omnipresent, much? ~ If your character is participating in thread "x", that same character cannot be participating in thread "z" unless they leave the roleplay in thread "x". There will be no bending of the time space continuum on this forum. EXCEPTION: Classes, Teams, and Clubs are exempt from this; however, each thread must specify day & time to avoid any "time-turner" situations.
§ - Dorms, Classes, Teachers, and Students ~ Okay, yes, this a Harry Potter site and we do have a space to RP in Insula, but let it be clear that there is no homework. While a teacher might seem as if they're "teaching" the class and might say "there's a 25 page paper due on Monday", you're not expected to do it. While your character is supposed to RP "they did their homework" or "they turned in their homework" that is the extent of it. Note: if you decide to do homework, should a teacher assign a reasonable assignment, you will earn points for your dorm.[/ul][/ul]
